Gospel – Grace = Legalism

It’s been over a month since the Advent season ended, yet I’m drawn back to the words declared by the angel to the shepherds in Luke 2. The angels appeared to a group of shepherds to announce the birth of a king. The birth of the King. The most important and most powerful King of all kings was heralded to a bunch of blue collar workers who slept on the ground while protecting and caring for animals. The words the angel spoke were simple but powerful.

In Which We Must Work Together (Or The Email I Sent To Courtney Reissig)

Overflow Ministry

I had the amazing privilege of being at the Right Now conference last week. It was a bit like drinking water from a fire hose, but it was very good. I’m definitely still processing most of it, but one of the things that stuck with me came from one of the Q&A sessions. I honestly don’t remember the question, or even the answer, but the disclaimer of sorts that Amy Teel gave before she answered the question hit me hard. She said something to the effect of “I answer not in the Spirit, but in my giftedness.”

Dirty Hands

So, I’ve “officially” been dating my amazing girlfriend for a week now. It’s been absolutely brilliant, as well as the two months of getting to know each other prior to making things Facebook official and opening ourselves up to all the Likes, Comments, and questions. My former home group leader and his wife had a baby within the past few days and they told me to bring my girlfriend when I came to visit them. So, naturally I was excited about all of that, but then I realized that my girlfriend and I would most likely meet up at my place. Meaning she would see my place for the first time. That’s when I did what any man who had been single for a year would do: Panic, and then clean everything.
