The Dangers of Legalism in Parenting

Yesterday we talked a bit about becoming accidental legalists. We set the tone for the rest of the week, because this habit is so prevalent and pervasive that we can’t ignore it anymore. It’s a habit I can’t ignore anymore. This week we’re going to look at several areas in which we tend to withhold grace from the wounded and broken, and they’re going to be big illustrations because it’s a big issue.

When Christianity is Frustrating

I love God. I love the Church. I love the gospel. I love truth and talking and debating about truth with my friends. And I believe that absolute, objective truth exists, regardless of whether we’re able to understand it all the time. Truth is truth, and there isn’t a relative version of truth. Thanks For The Memories

Warning: Mom, this will make you cry. Might wanna read it at home.

I don’t get out there as much as an adult, because most of the family events are at my mom’s or aunt’s house. When we do get out that way for Thanksgiving or Christmas, it’s chaos. That’s not a bad thing, necessarily, it just seems like there’s thirty of us (really, 18) out there all at once and it’s. just. so. busy. A whirl of conversation and catching up, and then we’re gone. We don’t stop and slow down. Maybe it’s because we aren’t forced to, maybe it’s because we don’t want to. But I had to this weekend, and I’m glad.
