Recent NASCAR Invocation

Definitely the most interesting invocation I’ve heard. And according to Christian Post

[The] Reaction to the prayer has been mostly positive. Race winner Carl Edwards told The Tennessean that he appreciated Nelms’ humor in the prayer.

“I turned to Jack (Roush) after that. I said, ‘If anything happens, I want him to be at my funeral.’ That was one of the best invocations I have ever heard,” Edwards said.

I’ve heard mixed feelings about it though. A couple comment on Ed Stetzer’s blog show some are “speechless” and some even think it’s “shameful”.

I tend to disagree though. I thought it was fantastic! Admittedly, it’s a bit weird for most of the conservative Christian world, but, isn’t this a perfect example of incarnational missiology? I mean, isn’t this a perfect example of reaching into a culture to truly relate to them?

What do you think? Let me know in the comments!
