Recently there has just been a ton of really crushing news. Since Friday it’s been one thing after another every day. Most of it doesn’t even affect me directly, it’s just feeling the weight of all that my friends are going through.
Sometimes it’s so hard to focus on God being sovereign, loving, and righteous in the midst of peers going through so much chaos. Trying to find the balance between the pain we feel and knowing that God is in control can sometimes be maddening.
Even then, God is faithful to remind us that He works all things for His glory and our ultimate joy in Him.
Today I found out that a pastor of mine suffered a miscarriage yesterday. He explained what happened to his daughter, and this was her response: “Don’t be sad. God can make another baby.”
While we may all have the tendency to have an “awwwwww” moment at how cute that is, we need to stop and examine what just happened here. After hearing about the loss of her baby sibling, this child immediately turns to God for comfort, hope, and restoration. This is child-like faith, being completely dependent upon God and trusting Him to do what’s best for us, no matter what we go through.
