A Piercing Quote

I’ve been reading Kevin DeYoung’s latest book, The Hole in Our Holiness: Filling the Gap between Gospel Passion and the Pursuit of Godliness over the past week. I’ll review the book more fully later, but for now, I want to leave you with a quote that really stuck with me.

“When it comes to sexual immorality, sin looks normal, righteousness looks very strange, and we look a lot like everybody else.”

That leaves me with a few questions:

How do we, as Christians, push back against the constant onslaught of immorality the world throws at us? How do we guard our minds and hearts when 95% of today’s entertainment and advertising is fraught with blatant images designed to lead us to impure thoughts?

How do we give grace to those struggling with this, while still maintaining that it’s not ok and encouraging them to repent and lean on Christ and make war against sin?

Thoughts?
